Exploding Egg

I wanted to capture high-speed photos using a regular DSLR camera. To achieve short exposure times, I triggered disposable camera flashes in a dark room with a long shutter speed. To trigger the flashes at the correct time, I placed a sensor across the barrel, and used an Arduino to fire the flashes with the correct delay. The flashes were connected to the Arduino via a circuit that used optocouplers to isolate the high-voltage flashes from the low-voltage microcontroller.
